Support
Donate to Habitat Berks
Habitat for Humanity was founded in 1988. Since then, the number of homes built is well over sixty and still rising. Our vision at Habitat for Humanity of Berks County is to be among the major housing leaders in our community for neighborhood revitalization by providing affordable housing and homeownership opportunities for our client families.
CORPORATE SPONSORSHIPS
Every home we build needs sponsorship support. Donating as a company sends a strong message about your corporate citizenship; you’ll also be making the powerful statement that everyone deserves an affordable, safe place to live in Berks County.
To learn more about our partnership program, contact: Doug Long at dlong@habitatberks.org or ext. 304 to learn more!
VOLUNTEER
Take a break from the office and come build with us onsite or spend some time at our Restore! This is more than just a morale-boosting activity for your team, volunteering with Habitat for Humanity of Berks County is a rewarding way to give back to our community. We welcome volunteers of all experience levels on our sites as our staff provide all the training needed.
PLANNED GIVING
Through planned giving, individuals are able to arrange gifts to be made at a future date, helping to support the long-term goals of Habitat Berks.
Planned giving may also provide tax benefits to you now, to your estate and even provide income throughout your lifetime. There are many different types of gifts which can be made, including but not limited to:
- charitable gift annuities
- charitable trusts/remainder trusts
- real estate
- life insurance
- bank accounts and IRAs
- non-marketable securities, including business interests
- antiques, artwork and other valuable tangible personal property and gifts of stocks and securities.
As there are many planned giving options available, Habitat Berks staff members are happy to discuss the options with you in confidence.
We are committed to helping you match your goals with the right gift, whether that is now or whenever the time is right.
Additionally, information and tools are available to assist you with the planned giving process. We encourage you to contact Doug Long, Development Director, at dlong@habitatberks.org or by calling (610) 373-3439 – ext. 304.
If you are considering including Habitat Berks in your estate planning, the following statement is the official bequest language to be used in your planning.
“I, [name], of [city, state, ZIP], give, devise and bequeath to Habitat for Humanity of Berks County, currently located at 201 Washington Street, Reading, PA 19601 [written amount or percentage of the estate or description of property] for its unrestricted use and purpose.”
When arranging your planned gift(s), it is important to consult your adviser, as well as your attorney, to outline the details and develop the legal documentation of your gift. Habitat Berks can provide sample bequest forms for the information of donors and friends and especially for the guidance of attorneys preparing wills which contain these bequests.
We appreciate the opportunity to work with you. Thank you for thinking of Habitat Berks and helping to advance the mission through your gift.
Please note, all contributions are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law. We appreciate your understanding that not all gifts, particularly potential gifts of real estate or items such as artwork and other tangible personal property, are acceptable. Habitat Berks staff will work with you personally to make a determination.
