Habitat for Humanity of Berks County is excited to announce a unique fundraising campaign. Get ready for “Building Up”. This partnership between the Reading Science Center and Habitat for Humanity puts the fun in fundraising! Get in on the fun this November with our kick-off event.
Our community has joined forces to make this event eventful. In addition to the Reading Science center, we are partnering with Alvernia University’s Engineering Students and MG Architects. Together Alvernia Students and MG Architects will build a one-of-a-kind block house. With Building Up, we’ll be constructing an Ever Blockhouse, and asking for your support by purchasing blocks for this unique structure. The funds will be invested to help Habitat Berks in building strong neighborhoods and support educational opportunities through the Reading Science Center.
The Block House is the process of being build and will remain on display throughout the academic year. We welcome you to visit the house at Alvernia University’s John R. Post Center, in downtown Reading.
Join the fun by purchasing a holiday package! Packages include one free ticket to the Reading Science Center for every Block purchased. Online sales will be available at https://habitatberks.org/building-up/. You can purchase in person at the Reading Science Center. We are excited to see the collaboration, innovation, and fun between our organization. Don’t miss the fun, buy a block today!
We are thankful for our foundation sponsors and their generous support for this campaign since the planning stages. Special thanks to Customers Bank, our Foundational Sponsor, as well as our Cornerstone, and Footer Sponsors. Because of the support of these sponsors we have built a strong foundation. With the support from our sponsors and you, we can improve city neighborhoods, increase educational opportunities and build strong foundations for families in this community.
About Habitat for Humanity and the Reading Science Center
Habitat for Humanity of Berks County and The Reading Science Center are both 501c3 nonprofit organizations. Habitat for Humanity’s vision of giving a “hand up” rather than a “hand out” has helped many families in Berks County achieve their dreams of owning a home. While the Reading Science Center fosters the love of science through exciting and experiential STEM education for the Greater Reading community, especially our youth. Engineering, Architecture and Construction are all key elements in housing development, so they match with Habitat and the Reading Science Center.
All proceeds from this campaign will go towards the completion of Habitat’s building and renovation projects, and the Reading Science Center’s educational exhibits.
